About the Organisation

The Hunter Sports Centre, kaiyu nungkiliko (HSC) is in the Lake Macquarie City Local Government Area and is one of the region’s premier sporting venues. It is positioned in the suburb of Glendale, within Lake Macquarie’s North West Catalyst Area which is a regional hub for economic growth in NSW.  The HSC is Council’s most significant community facility and has just undergone a significant expansion to now be the premier athletics, gymnastics and fitness venue in Lake Macquarie and the region more broadly. The expanded facility is expected to significantly increase visitation by adding new sports, tourism, conference, and community facilities. These facilities will support the regional visitor economy, community, and future athletes. The facility also incorporates the NSW Trampoline Centre of Excellence (TCE). This facility focuses on high-performance trampoline sports, development, education, and events, as well as rehabilitation and community programs.

Our mission is to provide inclusive, safe, and high-quality facilities that promote health, participation, and sporting excellence.

The Hunter Region Sports Centre Administration Committee Incorporated (HRSC Inc) is currently awaiting final approval to transition to a company limited by guarantee. In anticipation of this structural change, the Board is inviting Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified individuals to serve as Directors. Up to four appointments will be made to strengthen the Board’s capacity in strategic leadership, community engagement, and governance excellence. The expansion of the Centre’s facilities and services necessitates the adoption of a more sophisticated governance framework to ensure the organisation is well-positioned to capitalise on future opportunities for the benefit of both the Centre and the wider community.

Role of the Board

The role of the Board is to set the strategic direction for the HSC and to guide and oversee its performance.

The Board has overall responsibility for ensuring the HSC is well-managed and its operations are successful. The General Manager is delegated the day to day management of the HSC and to achieve the strategic goals set by the Board.

Directors are expected to contribute to board discussions, attend meetings regularly, and uphold the values of the organisation.
