Field Testing & Teams Packages

Performing a field-based fitness testing battery is an important part of performance profiling and monitoring in team sports. Both team and individual player reports will be provided to summaries test results. The tests establish a baseline for your athletes and squads that can be re-measured on the field to monitor athlete status on an ongoing basis.

Tests can be customised to meet sport-specific national fitness testing batteries (e.g., AFL draft combine). Additional costs may be associated.

Package 1: Field-Based Energy Systems Testing & Standard Body Composition

The Field-Based Energy Systems Testing & Standard Body Composition package involves evaluating an athlete’s performance in field conditions, focusing on aerobic capacity, speed, change of direction, and standard body composition measurements. These tests are perfect for team sport athletes.

  • Aerobic Capacity: Assess aerobic fitness capacity using a validated field test (30-15 Intermittent Fitness Test or equivalent), useful for sports involving intermittent high-intensity efforts.
  • Speed Testing: Utilise timing gates or sprint technology (1080 sprint) to measure sprint speed and acceleration, crucial for sports requiring bursts of speed.
  • Change of Direction Testing: Evaluate your capacity to change direction at speed with tests like the 5-0-5 Change of Direction test, important for sports requiring rapid changes in movement direction.
  • Body Composition: Measure height, weight, and conduct flexibility assessments (e.g. Sit and Reach, Knee to Wall, Thomas Test) to understand physical characteristics and flexibility limitations.

Package 2: Strength & Power with Standard Body Composition

The Strength & Power with Standard Body Composition package focuses on evaluating an athlete’s muscular strength, power, and standard body composition metrics, targeting both lower and upper body. These tests are designed to benefit athletes, specifically those involved in faster paced and explosive sports.

Lower Body Strength and Power Assessment:

  • Isometric Mid-Thigh Pull (IMTP): Measure maximal lower body strength, a crucial foundation for athletic movements requiring lower-body force and power (e.g. tackling and acceleration).
  • Vertical Jump: Assess lower body power, essential for activities requiring explosive lower-body efforts (e.g. jumping and sprinting).
  • Dynamic Strength Index: Derived from the combination of IMTP and Vertical Jump, this index informs decisions around training program design.
  • Hip Adduction/Abduction: Evaluate hip strength, vital for knee/hip/groin injury reduction and efficient movement mechanics.

Upper Body Strength and Power Assessment:

  • Hand Dynamometer: Measure grip strength, important for sports involving gripping and holding (e.g. gymnastics and hockey).
  • Isometric Push-Up: Assess maximal upper body pushing strength, a crucial foundation for athletic movements requiring upper-body force and power (e.g. passing and wrestling).
  • Plyometric Push-Up: Measure upper body pushing power, critical for explosive upper-body efforts (e.g. throwing and striking).

Body Composition: Measure height, weight, and conduct flexibility assessments (e.g., Sit and Reach, Knee to Wall, Thomas Test) to understand physical characteristics and flexibility limitations.

Package 3: Detailed Body Composition with Balance & Skin Folds

Comprehensive Results: Understand your body fat level and distribution with precise skin fold measurements.

Balance Assessment: Evaluate your body’s balance and symmetry to reduce likelihood of injury and improve performance.

Individualised Report: After your visit, you will receive a comprehensive report detailing your results for each test.

We will report your current results, alongside some normative data for comparison (where possible). This will provide valuable information to inform your training goals.
