THE HUNTER TO HOST GYMNASTICS NSW COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS & GYMSPORT INVITATIONAL FOR THE SECOND YEAR

Following the success of last year’s Gymnastics NSW Country Championships & Gymsport Invitational, the event will return to the redeveloped Hunter Sports Centre in Glendale from 7 – 11 October 2026, bringing together some of Australia’s most exciting emerging talent and established gymnasts for five days of outstanding competition.

Since its inception in 1993, the Gymnastics NSW Country Championships has become the flagship event for regionally based gymnasts from across the state. Running in tandem with the Country Championships since 2024 is the NSW Gymsport Invitational, which is open to all affiliated gymnastics clubs throughout NSW to encourage collaboration between metro and regional clubs in their shared vision to develop the country’s next generation of leading gymnastics.

In all, over 1,000 gymnasts representing 42 clubs – supported by over 300 coaches, officials and judges – will descend on the Hunter Sports Centre to participate in seven unique Gymnastics styles, including Acrobatics Gymnastics, FreeG (Freestyle Gymnastics), Men’s Artistic Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, TeamGym, Trampoline Gymnastics and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics.

Rebecca Shaw NSW Gymnastics CEO stated “Gymnastics NSW is delighted to be returning to the Hunter Sports Centre for this year’s Gymnastics NSW Country Championships and Gymsport Invitational for what has become a marquee event for gymnastics in the country.”

“As an organisation, we pride ourselves on providing opportunities for all our participants to showcase their abilities and the Gymnastics NSW Country Championships enable athletes from regional, rural and remote parts of the state to not only compete against each other for prestigious state titles but put their best foot forward in terms of talent identification.”

The 2026 event will be the second time that Hunter Sports Centre has hosted the Gymnastics NSW Country Championships since the completion of the $52 million Hunter Sports Centre Kaiyu Nungkiliko expansion last year. This demonstrates Gymnastics NSW’s commitment to the region and ongoing support for the new destination facility whose redevelopment was funded the NSW Government along with Lake Macquarie City Council and the Federal Government.

In addition to the participating athletes, coaches, officials and judges, it’s anticipated up to 4,000 spectators will attend the 2025 Gymnastics NSW Country Championships & Gymsport Invitational, injecting close to $2 million into the local economy.
